A few weeks ago, my orchestra class all went on a field trip to an out of state competition. I did not attend because I get car sick and 9 hours on a bus wouldn t be very good for me. So three girls I know want the viola solo because violas normally never

Answers:

If you're so immature and selfish that you would hate someone simply because they got something which YOU wanted, you don't deserve to be part of the orchestra at all!
What has this girl done to deserve your hate? Nothing!
I can't believe that anyone over the age of 6 would be so babyish.

Let me recap - YOU missed a concert by personal choice, two people MORE RELIABLE went, and one got the solo. The other is doing it in the upcoming concert. And you HATE her/them????? I taught middle and high school music ensembles in the schools of NY state for over 30 years (now retired) - and THIS is why I do not miss it one bit. I do miss the good kids who were polite, worked hard, and valued THE TEAM over the individual. "Shakes her bow and it sounds weird"???- do you mean she plays with vibrato??? And because you are going to be in another orchestra, you NOW think that you will get LESS chances at solos? It's all about YOU YOU YOU , isn't it? Do your orchestra a big favor - quit now. You clearly are missing the ENTIRE point of being a member of a large performing group. Or - you can grow up and change your whiny bratty attitude. Nobody needs you, if this is how you treat others.

You should move to Nepal.

The teacher already gave it to the other girl.

You play your part as best you can and support the musician who is going to play the solo. Provide help if asked. Don't be vindictive, don't be petty, remember you're all there to work together and create something moving.
