Hypothetically, what would happen if you impregnate yourself with yourself?

Okay hear me out
Say you're a man, and you freeze your sperm. Then you have a sex change, and let's say somehow you get a working reproductive system that produces your own eggs. Then you use your frozen sperm to impregnate yourself. What w

Answers:

It would look like Trump

Creating a zygote from the DNA of two of your own gametes, would create one very inbred kid - and like others said, one with low chances of survival

You would reduce, on average, your level of heterozygosity by half, resulting in a nearly-certain expression of multiple harmful recessive alleles. In short, you'd get a dead baby. And that's ignoring the methylation issues.

That is worse than incest, because the chance of the baby having 2 copies of the same deleterious genes that can cause disease, birth defects or even miscarriage would be extremely high. For example, if you only have a single copy of a bad gene, the chance of an egg with a copy of the bad gene fertilized by a sperm with the same bad gene is high, about 25%.

A sex change that includes working ovaries and a womb, and all the other changes to your body, is way way beyond our capabilities today. It's at least 50 years before we could do what you suggest, or more like 150 years.

So when medical science gets to that point, why don't we here in the year 2017 just assume that magic happens, and you have a child. It would be a clone of you ... no, it would not, because genetic medicine would have advanced so your child could have whatever genes you wanted. I don't mean the child could be superman or the hulk, but she/he could have genes selected from the whole human population.

The phenomenon of inbreeding increases the level of homozygotes for autosomal genetic disorders. The extent to which the risk increases depends on the degree of genetic relationship between the parents; the risk is greater when the parents are close relatives and lower for relationships between more distant relatives, such as second cousins, though still greater than for the general population.

You might get that person that yu always wanted to be, but you could still ground yourself. I do not think that I would risk that.

You'd prove to the world how the first denizens of Arkanas came about.

None of that it possible. But if it was the offspring would look very similar to you

That baby would be fu cking weird
